Switching Units

The UAX7 C unit housed junction relay sets and incoming parent group selectors. This unit was superseeded by the D and E units.

UAX7 C unit drawing

Shelf E:
This shelf housed the 'odds and ends' that is always needed in an exchange. The first four positions are taken up with common multi-metering equipment. Next was two jack in sets of alarm delay equipment, followed by the test number relayset. The final two relay sets housed alarm extension equipment.

Shelf D:
This accomodates 8 junction relays sets, for junctions to adjacent automatic exchanges.

Shelf C:
This accomodates uniselctors for use with the parent relay sets (for multi-metering), and also for use with the adjacent exchange relay sets.

Shelf B:
This accomodates 8 junction relay sets for junctions to the parent exchange.

Shelf A:
This can be used for parent first selectors, or for second selectors (used when there was a requirement for junctions to more than six other exchanges).

Again the top of the rack has the connection blocks for the first selector levels, and connections to other units.
